Yes, I've bought my friend's land too. It's now inside my 100lvl land just like on your pic.

I have exactly the same situation and moving closer to the smaller land makes it grow

What if my larger land has resources on it, would I be able to check in and collect them?

Sure, some statistics would be great. But I wouldn't want any micromanagement in regards to my lands. I've captured them, I'm protecting them - I think that's enough

That would be true for Civilisation: you sit on your bum at home and rule the world...

But I'm pretty sure the idea behind this game is to explore not think of a way to stay on your sofa

You could create posters with your QR code and receive resources when your poster actually brings someone to the game  

I'm pretty sure posting your code online could be even more effective and would be less time consuming for you
