Ruvox
So is there any rule concerning the user chosen names in the forum ? I think some of them are quite off limits... @Adolf hitler 1940 @Adolf Hitler 2.0 @Adolf Hitler jr. @Adolf hittler @Hadolfitler @Hidolf Atler @Penis4 @Kim jong il ... and so on ... 0 Mr. D
Same common sense rules apply (as described in the Code of Conduct), but we get so many daily registrations on the forum that it wouldn't be efficient to moderate those as they appear in real-time (at least until I get more team members ). So I'm only worried about those who post at least something (at least once), as otherwise they remain quite well hidden and don't bother anyone. In-game profiles that are visible to those around them are an entirely different story, however. So please post if you spot any offensive names. 0 S Keillan
Mr. D has a rule against offensive content, and given that there is no age restriction, references to certain anatomical parts should definitely be right out. References to current and former political figures might be a trickier situation as opinions on them vary wildly. For example, should we prohibit references to the current U.S. president, an arguably polarizing figure? What of Brexit given certain undertones of that action? My guess is that unless a logical rationale can be made for such, it would be best to steer clear of those. We certainly do not want to inject animus into the game. My 2p. 0 Mr. D
I agree, but there will unlikely be any prohibition of human names on their own, regardless of their role in history. Remember, there's potentially more than one person in the world with the same name (I know a few Donalds and there are still people around our planet with a surname of Hitler ) and punishing someone for using a real-world name is potentially more offensive and discriminating than them actually using it, as these people may have nothing to do with a historic figure you're imagining. So unless it is used in a clearly offensive context (swear words around/within the name, description of an offensive action etc.) I am not planning to take any action against just a name.
